IT Department was established in 2007 as one of the pioneer departments of the college. Information Technology is among the areas considered to be capable of boosting the socio-economic development of Rwanda, and so IT programmes were rudimental in the thoughts of stakeholders in the process of the colleges’ establishment.

The department started with an initial intake of 50 students, who enrolled for the Diploma in information technology programme.

Over the years the department has been involved in staff training for capacity strengthening. It has also carried out several workshops with industry and stakeholders, leading to the optimal update of the IT courses curricula.

IT department also runs a Local Cisco Academy, following a memorandum of understanding between TCT and Cisco inc. and has in the 2009 turned out to be award winner for the Young best promising Academy.

In its present years of existence Students of IT department have been able to undertake various IT small projects, such as TCT Website, Online Voting System, etc
