GUIDELINES FOR TCT STUDENTS                                         CVTemplate English CVTemplate French

When looking for a new job, you want to check out as many companies as possible. An effective way to expand your job searches to attend a career day fair. These fairs are held at colleges, universities and other places around the community. When planning to go to a career day fair, you will want to do some preparation ahead of time.

Guidelines

Step 1
Research the employers that plan to attend. This gives you a heads up on the employers you are interested in approaching. Look into each company's background so that you are well informed when speaking to the Human Resources representative.

Step 2
Update your resume. If you have not updated your resume in a while, now is the time to do it. Check to make sure that all the information that you have listed is correct and current.

Step 3
Make numerous copies of your resume. The main purpose of a career day fair is to network. Plan to hand out a copy of your resume to each employer that you plan to visit.

Step 4
Prepare answers to typical questions that a potential employer may ask. Although career day fairs are not formal interviews, you still want to leave a good first impression. Think of a way of introducing yourself that will be memorable.

Step 5
Pick out a professional outfit. Most career day fairs recommend that you dress as if you are going on an interview. Suits are appropriate for both men and women.
