His Excellency Paul KAGAME Receives an Award from Tumba College of Technology
The President of the Republic of Rwanda, His Excellency Paul KAGAME has received an award from
Tumba College of Technology (TCT) in recognition of outstanding and visionary leadership in
advancement of Technology.
The award was received on his behalf by the Minister of State in charge
of Primary and Secondary education Dr. Harebamungu Mathias during its first
Graduation Ceremony whereby 274 students graduated in different fields.
While presenting the award on behalf of the Management,
Staff and Students of TCT, the Principal,
Eng. Gatabazi Pascal read out the Citation, as follows;

Your Excellency Paul KAGAME, President of the Republic of Rwanda
We, at Tumba College of Technology strongly appreciate the Great leadership and policies that
resulted into rapid advancement of Technology in Rwanda. Technology is a cornerstone of our
Economic and Social strategy.
Rwanda has put in place institutional framework for developing and implementing the technology vision,
built a versatile communications infrastructure (e.g. the national fibre backbone),
electronic records platform, Information Management Systems, One laptop per Child,
Technology based institutions (e.g. KIST, Kicukiro and Tumba College of Technology), just to mention a few.
The policy priority in the application of Technology in our healthcare systems is also evident
by the recently acquired MRI scanner at King Faycal hospital for the good health of our people.
The health and well being of the nation’s citizens is paramount for future prosperity.
We are very proud of your over twenty two National and International Awards including the
Best Head of State in Africa in Support of Information Communication Technology (ICT) and the
World Technology Awards by the World Technology Network.
Allow me to quote part of your speech while accepting the world Technology award in New York
“We have systematically invested in a foundation to adopt, develop and utilize technology in Education,
Healthcare, Government and the private sector.” Many Rwandans are beneficiaries of such investments.
So today, we, the Management, Staff and Students of Tumba College of Technology, in
recognition of outstanding and visionary leadership, are honoured to present to you
